FretField is an interactive bass-fretboard application that teaches the neck as a spatial field of harmonic possibilities — not a grid of shapes to memorize. Click any fret to set a root, and it answers four increasingly powerful questions: what can I play now (Chord Field), where can I go next (Progression Field), what route should I take (Voice-Leading Paths), and where on the neck should I play it (Local Fields) — all derived from interval math, not hardcoded lookup tables.
An optional Live Input layer listens through a USB interface or mic, detects the pitch played, and highlights every fret that produces it, explained through whichever mode is active. Guided Practice turns the same four modes into exercises, closing the loop between proposing a target and confirming what was actually played — analyzed locally in the browser, never recorded or uploaded.
